Club Mission Statement

Camp Randall Rowing, Inc., (Camp Randall) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that has grown from an informally organized rowing club formed in 1995 into a community-wide volunteer organization offering junior competitive, senior, development camp and learn to row programs. Camp Randall's primary purpose is to foster national and international rowing by supporting and developing amateur athletes for national and international competition in the sport of rowing. The overall purpose of all the programs is to encourage, develop, instruct and train young men and women in the sport of competitive rowing; to encourage and develop community-wide amateur competition in the sport of rowing; to solicit scholarships to support Junior and Middle School rowers and WeCanRow participants who otherwise would never have an opportunity to participate in the sport, and finally to promote lifelong healthy activities through an understanding and appreciation of the sport of rowing.

Brittingham Boathouse Renovation Project

In 2001, Camp Randall initiated the Brittingham Boathouse Renovation Project. This project involves the restoration and historic renovation of the Brittingham Boathouse located in downtown Madison at 601 N. Shore Drive, Madison, WI on Lake Monona Bay. Camp Randall joined with the Madison Parks Department to renovate the historic Brittingham Boathouse. The Brittingham Boathouse is the oldest surviving park structure in the City of Madison and is listed on the National Historic Landmarks Registry. On May 3, 2007, the 2007 Historic Preservation Award was presented to Camp Randall by the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation in recognition of its outstanding preservation efforts on the Brittingham Boathouse. On June 11, 2007, the Wisconsin Historic Society Board of Curators and Awards Committee selected Camp Randall and the Madison Parks Department to receive the Historic Preservation Award. These awards honor Camp Randall's work in protecting the Brittingham Boathouse, a Wisconsin historic property.

Community Partnerships

To accomplish its corporate mission offers Learn to Row and Junior Competitive Rowing Programs. In partnership with the UW Athletic Department, Camp Randall organizes competitive Senior Rowing Programs and the Midwest Development Camp and provides the UW crews with access to Lake Monona for its collegiate training programs. Camp Randall also organizes the annual Brittingham Regatta & the Monona Terror Race; partners with the City of Madison to renovate the historic Brittingham Boathouse; solicits scholarship funds to support disadvantaged Dane County HS & Middle School rowers and promotes community support for the sport of rowing.

Camp Randall's WeCanRow Program partners with the local medical community and local support groups to provide rowing programs that include physical exercise, self-image enhancement, group support and team-building experiences for women transitioning from cancer patient to cancer survivor and solicits scholarship funds to support disadvantaged Dane County cancer survivors involved with the WeCanRow Program.

Camp Randall also works to expand community wide interest in rowing, to promote the involvement of low-income families with the sport and to encourage life long healthy activities through rowing
